Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry

Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry was a renowned Indian poet and lyricist celebrated for his contributions to Telugu cinema and theatre. He earned the title “Sirivennela” after writing the lyrics for the 1986 film Sirivennela, directed by K. Viswanath.

Over his illustrious career, Sastry penned lyrics for more than 3,000 songs by 2020, earning widespread acclaim for his poetic brilliance. His exceptional work garnered numerous accolades, including eleven Nandi Awards from the Government of Andhra Pradesh and four Filmfare Awards South.

In 2019, he was honored with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, in recognition of his significant contributions to the fields of arts and aesthetics. Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry remains an enduring icon in Indian lyricism and poetry.
